Google the new Apple. Apple vs. Google.

Google the new Apple. Apple vs. Google.

Posted March 12th, 2012 by tekgiants with 2 Comments

Since the passing of the great Steve Jobs, the excitement of new product announcements, the lack of product improvements (ie-iPad3), and the meek personality of Tim Cook. Not sure he has the “Tiger Blood” Jobs did…not to mention the drive to innovate, think, and create sexy products that just work.

Dont worry Apple, you still have me, less my recent iPhone swap. But I enjoy the power my G5 brings my music studio. This is the most important aspect of what kept Apple so successful and keeps me coming back. Well this has since changed with the release of Google’s suite of 8 billion apps, items and the fact they could trace my phone from where I lived when I was 3. I have been doing allot of research and I predict Google will surpass Apple. I would also keep my eye on Amazon. After all, they have been cloud the longest. Pioneered some great products, but lets stick with Apple and Google.

Google has impressed me with the speed of the dual core. All android phone are built to run as fast as possible. Not to mention the graphics on the new apps are stellar. Since I have used Google Chrome since Beta, I have to applaud Google for the sync.

From a new Android user, here are my main differences:

1. Apple’s setup is easier. However, when you do get Google up and running it puts iCloud to shame.
2. The damn battery on the 4S killed me. 3 phones, and some high-school Genius to rebuild my phone. I said to him, this is 6 years I spent setting this thing up. No thanks. I will stick with my iPad. That I love. But iPhone has many flaws. Nothing is perfect. I just want to make a phone call without it dropping by 945am with no juice.
3. Endless Apps (Open Source) which gives developers the ability to develop apps that can really push the limits of the users’ phone. Like running on dual core or not. Apple. NOPE.
4. Did I say iCloud, the red-headed step child of mobile me. Both don’t work. Sorry Apple. Needs work. BIG TIME!!!
5. I bought a Samsung Note. Very impressed. A bit big, but if you are a big guy/gal and have a hand that doesnt mind the size, this phone is just amazing. Full writing anywhere. GPS is dead on. Apps are well done. A++

Furthermore, I do think Apple is losing momentum. Yes I hear all your stock junkies. Their stock is always rising. But my bet is on Google for the next cloud leader.

9/11 And Life

Posted September 11th, 2011 by tekgiants with 1 Comment

“Gods plan for your life is so much more important than your comfort.”
- Pastor Joel, Northland Church today’s 9am service.

9/11 – NEVER FORGET!!
I generally try to keep personality out of my posts, but I’ve been moved today in church.

May God Bless our mothers, brothers, fathers, friends, entire families, woman, men and children who lost their lives on this day in 2001 and sacrificed their lives for our freedom. God has a path for us all. This world concerns me more and more each day, however I just say whatever is in the lord’s plans will be. After all he died for our freedom and well-being. We shall never forget these people. We should stop and look at the person next to you and think, it could have been him, you, or your children.

As I grow older, i realize When you all think you are having a rough time, think about the people that endured this demise and how good you really do have it.

May the lord keep us all on the path to freedom!

Excuse my downer blog post and/or spelling.

Thank you!

The Virtual Enterprise is here!

It’s been a few since I last blogged. To the 3 people who read this. Thank you. And you will only here more from me as we grow. We had to take a step back at tekGiants and think who we are as a visionary entity. We are not you normal IT company fixing computers and viruses all day, although its helped us grow.

Often people misunderstood what we do and how we do business. Therefore after attending the cloud expo a few months ago, I determined one thing. Even a small company can be a visionary amongst thousands of behemoth Cloud Companies. With that said, our HIVE VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE product is really addressing true value areas in which we never imagined. Recently I read an ad for Citrix and it was almost identical to our first ads published years ago (phone rings at attorneys office). This made me think, wow we are in the right spot and what we need to be focusing on. Obviously by doing so, attention has shifted away from our managed services side of our business because After all, we all should figure, automated tools have been replacing human interaction with the systems for maintenance reasons, and will only continue to diminish our foot in the sand. If you are an IT professional and think otherwise, look for a new career, or open any trade magazine. Therefore, the Virtual Enterprise, the “I want it anywhere, anyplace” era is here. Mesh computing, mainframe computing, and the over-abused cloud computing revolution is bringing business to entirely new areas of IT transparency. After all, as IT professionals our jobs are to ensure companies keep the IT budgets down, and invisible with the “I just want it to work” part of their businesses consistent. Thus, the Virtual Enterprise is born and cloud computing becomes a buzz term for other IT companies to keep the doors open. The place where SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, DaaS, all align to be one transparent platform. This was my vision over 4 years ago. Along with my partner Dana Dearth, since 2005, we have been putting this vision into motion. Today, we are breaking new ground within our industry with zero capital injection and pure organic growth (along with blood, sweat, and many hours). We are truly excited to see what will be of this new position in our market. (kids are screaming for me so I’ll write more soon).

More to follow…

The Tablet Wars…Or is it nothing more than tablets and the iPad 2?

Posted May 15th, 2011 by tekgiants with No Comments

Make no mistake, Apple has won this race. Everyone has tried to convince me otherwise. But I don’t see it, even within Honeycomb (Android 3). Its funny how companies are replicating what is Apple is doing. RIM is going to miss the boat, if they haven’t already. Their tablet is garbage. Not to mention, the BES server idea guys sucks. As an IT admin as well, and the CEO of tekGIANTS, I have seen many people’s BES servers come and go. If I had it my way, I would like a meteor hit RIM’s HQ. Sorry guys, but some C-man there just doesn’t get it. They are about 7 years late.

Over the past 12 months we have seen influx of tablets pile into the market place upon the huge success of Apple’s iPad and now iPad 2. I can tell you we have tested almost every reputable unit and in my opinion the closest I have seen to anything being decent is the dock able Motorola Axiom phone (WITH LAPTOP), and the Samsung Tablet. Samsung is due to release a 10.1 in 3G (FREE) version. Which I have to admit peaks my interests. However the kindle was able to do it, therefore we feel the Samsung will be the only run for the money as it pertains to the tablets. The iPad 2 for me and rumored iPhone nano-style phone are also rumored to be coming out this summer. We will report our findings.

What we are seeing now is the true revolution and inevitable move into a completely mobile and less expensive user experience. I dont want to adjust my user interface and the way I do business to save a few bucks with the Google Chrome OS coming mid June. Google planetary takeover if far from the truth. I would think Apple is ahead. We have become users who want everything at their fingertips, and rightfully so. I dont want to change everything, I want my apps everywhere I go, including home-grown apps, quickbooks, etc…Yet no company has been able to deliver what I would call the full package or the complete IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) like tekGIANTS can. As small as we are. We did it. We spent the last three years developing this such platform and its been in use for 18 months. Hive Virtual Enterprise (hiveve.com) is a full enterprise, application delivery, hosted exchange server, custom apps – home grown apps, salesforce integration, and any other 3rd party software you choose to add to your plan. This is truly a revolutionary why to operate your in-house staff, and remote staff. This equals a cost reduction of over 70%. Not to mention the considerable power and green stance. We are truly excited. I did not want to turn this into a sales pitch, however as you can see I am very passionate about this…

For more information, or test drive the HIVE, call us at 321-206-6376. Free Demo units are available.

We look forward to hearing from you.
